Space 4 Autism at Paradise Mill

August 2025

We then went on to create our own yarn wraps, using a variety of colours, shapes, textures, thicknesses and shared the reasons why each participant made their decisions.

We had some wonderful discussions about Macclesfield, history, our favourite historical figures and the Egyptian collection housed next door in the museum.

The workshop ended with a tour of the Egyptian exhibition in the museum where participants shared their own knowledge of mythology and history too!

As part of my residency at Paradise Mill, I ran 2 workshops in the mill, the first of which was with Space4Autism, an organisation which offers a wide range of activities for people living with Autism Spectrum Conditions based in Macclesfield.

I provided participants with some samples and yarn wraps from my portfolio as well as a variety of yarns and we started with a sensory exploration activity and discussed the textures and colours we did and didn’t like and why.
